The Ultimate Guide to Making Your Fragrance Last

The Ultimate Guide to Making Your Fragrance Last

Discover the secret to making your perfume last longer with these expert tips!

1. Apply to hydrated skin

When applying perfume to the skin, ensure the area is well hydrated with unscented body products. Dry skin absorbs perfume quickly, leading to more frequent reapplication. Hydrated skin holds scent better, prolonging your perfume's lifespan.

2. Don’t Rub

Despite what seems to have been ingrained into us for years, don’t spray perfume onto your wrists and then rub them together! According to the experts, this action breaks down the top notes of the perfume and makes the scent disappear faster. Instead, spritz and then leave the perfume to blend with the natural oils within your skin without rubbing it on your other wrist. One other tip we’ve been given about wrists, is to spray on the top of the wrist as well as the underside.

3. Apply to your pulse points

The power of scent is enhanced by heat, which is why there's a buzz about applying perfume to pulse points. Spritz a little on your wrists (don't forget the tops), behind your ears, backs of the knees, and inside elbows to make your fragrance last all day.

5. Choose proper storage

Where you store your perfume is absolutely integral to the condition of your fragrance. Keep your perfumes out of hot, humid places with direct sunlight, for example a bathroom and lean towards cool dry spaces which are out of direct sunlight. Heat, light and humidity can break down a perfume and lessen the intensity and quality of the fragrance. Please bear this in mind when traveling – if you take your fragrance in your beach bag and leave that bag in full sun, it will spoil.
